MUN No. 11 Anarose Rejuvenating Rose Toner Review + 10% Off

I was first introduced to MUN in 2013, and I wrote my review of the now-renowned skin savior known as MUN No.1 Aknari Brightening Youth Serum (formerly labelled Nighttime Dream Youth Serum) back in May 2013. My love of MUN has held steady these last two years, as its proven itself over and over again as the ultimate superpower in face oils. Even people who have had the worst experiences with face oils will buy MUN Aknari in trepidation, then email me two weeks later enthusiastically exclaiming how their skin is now clear/plump/brighter/smooth/you name it. It’s just one of those products that if it ever ceased to exist, there would be a lot – and I mean kiloliters – of tears. When Munemi Imai, the beauty and brain behind MUN, told me of her plan last summer to launch a toner, I immediately knew it would be a stunner like its big sister. And let’s put it this way: I was sent a bottle for review and have since bought two more. Keep reading for all the details! MUN No. 11 Anarose Rejuvenating Rose Toner Review Years ago, I was not a fan of toners. I didn’t see the point. They dried out the skin, they were a tremendous waste of cotton balls, and they seemed like just another way to extract a few dollars from our pockets. I have since changed my mind. A real toner is meant to balance the pH of the skin, and work in tandem with your natural skin barrier to keep your skin smooth, hydrated, and free of infection and acne. A properly formulated toner is worth its weight in gold....

My Skin Care Routine for Clear, Radiant Skin (Plus Makeup!)

My Skin Care Routine for Clear, Radiant Skin (Plus Makeup!)

My skin care routine changes often due to all the lovely skin care products I am sent for review, and while so many of them are beautifully formulated, they are better suited to other skin types or concerns. Thus I am fiercely loyal to the rare gems that come across my desk, and they are the products that are most effective for me and that I come back to consistently. Over the years and with much trial and error, I have put together a skin care routine that suits my skin perfectly. It has given me clear and radiant skin, even while I was on long-haul flights and eating food that my body hasn’t experienced in years (chocolate-injected croissant, anyone?). Sure I get the occasional pimple, but the overall quality of my skin is due in part to this simple and stellar routine. HOW TO GET GREAT RESULTS: Remember that what works for my skin may not work for yours. Experiment, but give products a solid chance to work. It can take about 2-4 weeks for the skin to become acclimated to a new skin care product. Lightening or correcting skin care treatments require about 12 weeks to properly evaluate the results. Check out my new skin care guides for product suggestions for each skin type and skin concern. If you don’t spot your skin type or concern, leave a comment on this post so I can add it. Most of the links below will take you to my new curated collection shop, Epic Beauty Bar. I was getting a ton of requests to provide a shop where all...
March Must Haves: Lily Organics, Skin Apotheke, Sprout Skin Care, JumpSport

March Must Haves: Lily Organics, Skin Apotheke, Sprout Skin Care, JumpSport

Hey everyone! I want to update you on a few things I’ve been using for the last 2+ months, with which I have fallen in love/lurrrrve. Absolute must haves! In no particular order, I give to you… 1. Lily Organics Kukui Sensitive Facial Oil Treatment (Unscented), $28.99. I can sum this one up easily: WOW. I received this luxe oil to try out about 2-3 months ago and noticed a difference after the first night. The area around my eyes gets dehydrated easily, and I want to keep it free of fine lines (no wrinkles, thank you). The oil feels light and silky, and has no discernible scent. I like that it absorbs quickly, so as not leave any marks on my pillowcase. It completely hydrated and smoothed out my dehydration lines – I have zero now. Zero. I love that the ingredients are “clean” and simple, and they make use of the natural form of vitamin E (d-alpha, not dl-), which is a potent antioxidant and skin lovin’ hydrator. I have a sneaking suspicion this one will end up on next year’s Epic Beauty Awards. 2. Skin Apotheke Wild Rose and Sandalwood Mask, $15.50. You may be wondering why Skin Apotheke keeps popping up in my “favorite” products lists and in my skin care routines over the past several years. Well, ask Ria (SA’s owner and skin care magician). I just can’t help that this woman keeps churning out miraculous handmade formulas. This mask is no exception. One, I love the incredible deep red color of this mask. Two, I love the delicious, earthy rose smell. And three,...

My Skin Care Routine – November 2011

Hey everyone! I did two other posts on my skin care routine back in January and April, and I figured it was about time to do another one since some things have changed. Since sticking to a 100% paleo/primal foods for about 4 months now (instead of half-assing it for the 2+ years), my skin has become even easier to manage. As a result, I don’t do as much to my skin, and my routine is more casual. Good times! (By the way, are you on the Epic Beauty Guide Facebook page yet? I post exclusive tips and info on there…just so you know…nudge nudge.) {SKIN CARE} CLEANSER. Filtered water, $ for the filtration system** A must-have. People with sensitive skin may find that water irritates their skin or makes their face red – however, it is not the water itself, it is the chlorine and all the bits of allowable chemicals (VOCs, THMs, pesticides, etc.) in city tap water. Chlorine dries out the skin, makes hair brittle, and can exacerbate asthma and eczema. So I shower in filtered water, I drink filtered water, and I use filtered water to wash my face.** I soak a soft face cloth in warm water (definitely warm, almost hot) and press it on my face for a minute or so, then gently wipe my face with the same wet towel. I don’t scrub. Not only does it feel good and is super relaxing, it also gently removes any dirt and any excess oil. I have found that water is all I need (note that I don’t wear makeup – if you wear...
