7 New Natural Beauty Must-Haves

7 New Natural Beauty Must-Haves

Hey everyone! Please excuse the shorter post today, as I just moved from Dubai to Hong Kong and am settling in nicely to my new home. Lots of new and awesome articles (and videos!) have been drafted and recorded and I’ll be doing my best to get them into your hands and faces and eyeballs very soon. 😉 7 New Natural Skin Care & Makeup Must-Haves Behold! I wish to share with you my latest and greatest finds in natural beauty for Fall and Winter…there are some seriously gorgeous, high-performance products on this list. Gressa Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation, $48 Caution: when you try this foundation, you will get hooked. This remarkable formulation is a serum with a built-in primer and corrective mineral pigment for an incredibly natural, luminous finish. This mellllllts into your skin, leaving a seamless look that doesn’t alert anyone to the fact that you are wearing foundation. You may also build the coverage from light/medium to full if you so desire. (If you’ve been reading my posts for a while, you’ll know I don’t wear foundation, yet once in a blue moon when I want to gussy it up for a special event, I love to reach for a tinted moisturizer – or now this serum – for a very polished look.) May Lindstrom Skin The Jasmine Garden, $60 There is no shortage of face mists and toners on the market, yet there are very few that I have curated as part of an admirable collection of absolutely exquisite and effective toners. The Jasmine Garden is the newest addition to this incredible line-up and is the latest creation from May Lindstrom, the woman who brought...
My Skin Care Routine for Clear, Radiant Skin (Plus Makeup!)

My Skin Care Routine for Clear, Radiant Skin (Plus Makeup!)

My skin care routine changes often due to all the lovely skin care products I am sent for review, and while so many of them are beautifully formulated, they are better suited to other skin types or concerns. Thus I am fiercely loyal to the rare gems that come across my desk, and they are the products that are most effective for me and that I come back to consistently. Over the years and with much trial and error, I have put together a skin care routine that suits my skin perfectly. It has given me clear and radiant skin, even while I was on long-haul flights and eating food that my body hasn’t experienced in years (chocolate-injected croissant, anyone?). Sure I get the occasional pimple, but the overall quality of my skin is due in part to this simple and stellar routine. HOW TO GET GREAT RESULTS: Remember that what works for my skin may not work for yours. Experiment, but give products a solid chance to work. It can take about 2–4 weeks for the skin to become acclimated to a new skin care product. Lightening or correcting skin care treatments require about 12 weeks to properly evaluate the results. Check out my new skin care guides for product suggestions for each skin type and skin concern. If you don’t spot your skin type or concern, leave a comment on this post so I can add it. Most of the links below will take you to my new curated collection shop, Epic Beauty Bar. I was getting a ton of requests to provide a shop where all my...
June/July Favorites: Natural Perfume, Oil Cleansing Method, Ubtan Scrub, Vapour Illusionist

June/July Favorites: Natural Perfume, Oil Cleansing Method, Ubtan Scrub, Vapour Illusionist

It’s that time again! More goodies that have delighted me with their efficacy, ingredients, and/or smelly smells. Read on! 1. Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques Organic Perfume Oil, $10. Natural Joy Beauty sent me a bottle of LBC Perfume Oil in Whimsy, a light floral blend with no sharp or spicy notes. The delicate scent comes in a little roll-on container that is easy to travel with (I have taken it with me on two trips), is easy on the nose, and is entirely natural. Plus, this is going to last a loooong time. Artificial scents tend to give people headaches, and this is like wearing flowers in your hair – just a light, lovely scent all day, sans headache. In addition to their lovely perfume blends, Natural Joy carries an excellent assortment of truly natural cosmetics and skin care products, and have extended an exclusive discount code for Epic Beauty Guide readers — save 15% on any order (!) with coupon code EPIC15. The code expires 31st of July 2012, so go explore! 2. Skin Apotheke Ubtan Clarifying Cleansing Scrub, $16. This is my old standby that gets put on the back burner and is then revisited with much delight and deep self-actualizing questions like “why did I ever stop using this??” With skin-nurturing, blemish-destroying ingredients like sandalwood, rice bran, turmeric, and neem, this powerhouse powder has done wonders for my skin in a ridiculously short amount of time. In only seven days, it is back to being radiant and blackhead-free after a bad testing experience with a pore-clogging sunblock. Ah, the things I do for you. 😉 I first wash...
GIVEAWAY! $150 Skin Apotheke + $75 U.S. Wellness Meats Gift Certificates

GIVEAWAY! $150 Skin Apotheke + $75 U.S. Wellness Meats Gift Certificates

Today I have a special treat for everyone… I am combining two of my favorite companies in one superb giveaway: Skin Apotheke and U.S. Wellness. I am rarely loyal to skin care brands, but Skin Apotheke is one of my rare exceptions. Ria, the owner and meticulous creator of this Ayurvedic goodness, is not only a wonderful person with a gigantic heart, she is fantastically gifted at what she does. Her skin care line is at once simple and expertly formulated, and lends incredible results. Soft, dewy skin that enjoys the treatment, instead of looking punished by it (red, irritated skin after a mask, anyone? not the case here). One winner will get a $150 gift certificate to use on any of the products in the Skin Apotheke online shop. Check out these bestsellers from Skin Apotheke: Organic Radiance Ubtan Scrub Rejuvenating Eye Creme Ayurvedic Fresh Wild Rose and Sandalwood Mask U.S. Wellness Meats is my trusted source of grass-fed and, most-importantly, compassionately-raised animal products. As a teenager, I went vegan for animal rights reasons, not knowing that other facilities existed besides disgusting feedlots and cruel slaughterhouses. I learned while living in Northern California that there are farmers and ranchers that love their animals and care for them properly. I only purchase from U.S. Wellness Meats and local humane farmers, and they are graciously offering a $75 gift certificate to one winner. Check out these bestsellers from U.S. Wellness: Pastured, antibiotic-free ground turkey 85% lean grass-fed ground beef Tri-tip grass-fed steak  GIVEAWAY DETAILS One $150 gift certificate to Skin Apotheke (e-gift certificate, not physical gift card). March Must Haves: Lily Organics, Skin Apotheke, Sprout Skin Care, JumpSport

March Must Haves: Lily Organics, Skin Apotheke, Sprout Skin Care, JumpSport

Hey everyone! I want to update you on a few things I’ve been using for the last 2+ months, with which I have fallen in love/lurrrrve. Absolute must haves! In no particular order, I give to you… 1. Lily Organics Kukui Sensitive Facial Oil Treatment (Unscented), $28.99. I can sum this one up easily: WOW. I received this luxe oil to try out about 2–3 months ago and noticed a difference after the first night. The area around my eyes gets dehydrated easily, and I want to keep it free of fine lines (no wrinkles, thank you). The oil feels light and silky, and has no discernible scent. I like that it absorbs quickly, so as not leave any marks on my pillowcase. It completely hydrated and smoothed out my dehydration lines – I have zero now. Zero. I love that the ingredients are “clean” and simple, and they make use of the natural form of vitamin E (d-alpha, not dl-), which is a potent antioxidant and skin lovin’ hydrator. I have a sneaking suspicion this one will end up on next year’s Epic Beauty Awards. 2. Skin Apotheke Wild Rose and Sandalwood Mask, $15.50. You may be wondering why Skin Apotheke keeps popping up in my “favorite” products lists and in my skin care routines over the past several years. Well, ask Ria (SA’s owner and skin care magician). I just can’t help that this woman keeps churning out miraculous handmade formulas. This mask is no exception. One, I love the incredible deep red color of this mask. Two, I love the delicious, earthy rose smell. And three, I love...
