2014 Epic Beauty Awards — Best of Natural Beauty

Welcome to 2015 — the fourth year of the Epic Beauty Awards! Check out the latest winners in natural beauty! Over the last year, I have tested dozens of products (and listened to all my amazing readers) from each category to bring you the very best in makeup, skin care, body care, and hair care. FTC Notice: Some products have been given to Epic Beauty Guide to review at some point in the past, but this in no way favors the product to win an Epic Beauty Award. All products have been originally purchased or repurchased by me. Affiliate links and links to my reader-requested curated shop (Epic Beauty Bar) are used when they are available, which supports Epic Beauty Guide as a free resource for everyone, and in no way effects the winner selection. Thank you for your support! Let me know in the comments if you have any questions, article suggestions, product suggestions, etc. 😉 Did I overlook a great product or category? Leave a comment so I know what to add for next year. Enjoy! ~Steph  x WINNERS! Get Beautiful Skin in 5 Minutes or Less

I know we all tend to love a little instant gratification, and I wanted to share with you some of my favorite tips for achieving beautiful, smooth, glowing skin in just 1 minute (plus some bonus treatments that take a bit longer). Have fun! 1 Minute to Beautiful Skin One of the most common things I see is that people think they are washing their skin well, when in fact, they’re only taking maybe 15 seconds to haphazardly mush some foam on their face. I invite you to use a timer and cleanse your skin for a full minute. That is thorough enough to remove excess sebum, dirt, makeup, bacteria, and dead skin so as to prevent rough skin texture, dullness, flakes, blackheads, and pustules. Better yet, use a Clarisonic, which gives a gentle yet deep clean and times the cleansing for you. I use the Clarisonic Mia (with the softest sensitive brush head) with a few different incredible cleansers that I keep in my beauty cabinet on rotation. My favorites to use with the Clarisonic are Kahina Cleanser, One Love Organics Easy Does It, and SIRCUIT Supermild. assets biz2credit sayseasy personal loans no credit check Ice and green tea are my favorite do-it-yourself tools for eliminating puffiness, redness, and inflammation. For a pimple, apply an ice cube or a cold spoon (put a metal spoon in the freezer) for 1 minute directly to the pimple (if your skin is sensitive, wrap the ice cube or spoon in a tissue). Cold constricts blood vessels, and in the case of a pimple, it reduces inflammation, thereby shrinking the pimple. To reduce overall redness, shrink a pimple, or de-puff...
My Skin Care Routine for Clear, Radiant Skin (Plus Makeup!)

My Skin Care Routine for Clear, Radiant Skin (Plus Makeup!)

My skin care routine changes often due to all the lovely skin care products I am sent for review, and while so many of them are beautifully formulated, they are better suited to other skin types or concerns. Thus I am fiercely loyal to the rare gems that come across my desk, and they are the products that are most effective for me and that I come back to consistently. Over the years and with much trial and error, I have put together a skin care routine that suits my skin perfectly. It has given me clear and radiant skin, even while I was on long-haul flights and eating food that my body hasn’t experienced in years (chocolate-injected croissant, anyone?). Sure I get the occasional pimple, but the overall quality of my skin is due in part to this simple and stellar routine. HOW TO GET GREAT RESULTS: Remember that what works for my skin may not work for yours. Experiment, but give products a solid chance to work. It can take about 2–4 weeks for the skin to become acclimated to a new skin care product. Lightening or correcting skin care treatments require about 12 weeks to properly evaluate the results. Check out my new skin care guides for product suggestions for each skin type and skin concern. If you don’t spot your skin type or concern, leave a comment on this post so I can add it. Most of the links below will take you to my new curated collection shop, Epic Beauty Bar. I was getting a ton of requests to provide a shop where all my...
Last-Minute Holiday Gifts 2011

Last-Minute Holiday Gifts 2011

Hey everyone! I’ve been completing my holiday shopping and I figured I would do a little last-minute holiday gift idea for those of you still stuck on what to get your family and friends. These are my favorites, and many happen to be on sale or offering special discounts. Hoorah! Here we go: (FTC: I was not paid or sponsored by any of the brands or companies mentioned below. Enjoy!) 1. Skin Apotheke Ayurvedic Skin Care. A favorite skin care line of mine, handmade and expertly formulated. The Rejuvenating Eye Creme is my all-time favorite eye cream, and I’ve mentioned it before (it was also on my must-have products list in 2010). Right now all products in the store are 10% off with coupon code HOLIDAY. 2. 23andMe DNA & Ancestry Test. One of the coolest, most unusual products out there. Normally $99 plus $9/month, it’s now on sale for $76. Just order a kit, the kit arrives, you spit in a little tube, send it back, and wait 2–6 weeks for your results! The test analyzes your DNA for fun things like hair color and ear wax, as well as serious things like health traits and disease risks (which you have the option of viewing or not). The best part for me was the health traits and ancestry testing, which shows your full genetic heritage. 3. DoMatcha Green Tea.This dainty little can contains matcha, a powerful powder chock full of antioxidants and amino acids. Plus, EGCG, which is responsible for helping with weight loss and cancer prevention, is 137 times more bioavailable than regular green tea. 4. Paleo Comfort Foods:...

Talking Beauty with Sarah Fragoso + Cookbook GIVEAWAY! (Closed)

Hey everyone! Today I have an awesome interview with Sarah Fragoso, author of the super popular Everyday Paleo website and Everyday Paleo cookbook. She is one of my favorite paleo folks – she’s a working, traveling, super busy mum of 3 boys and maintains a fantastic diet and exercise routine for herself and her family. Her cookbook is also an excellent tool for anyone wanting to follow an Epic Beauty Guide-style diet for clear skin, since her recipes are quick and tasty. Annnnd…we’re giving away a copy of her cookbook! Keep reading… 1. Your cookbook is a favorite in my household collection. How long did it take you compile this tome and what was your favorite part of creating it? It took me almost a year to create and compile Everyday Paleo.  My favorite part of creating it was the simple fact that this was a family project.  My husband and my children were all extremely involved, interested, and honest throughout the process and I could not have done it without their loving support. 2. If you could pick one recipe from Everyday Paleo, which one would you say is your favorite? My personal favorite would have to be the Steak Chile Rellenos but my families absolute favorite is hands down the Everyday Meatloaf. 3. You have three adorable sons and are in great shape. Could you tell us how you got fit post-pregnancy? Changing my eating habits was number one in my physical transformation. For fitness I worked out twice a week at Norcal Strength and Conditioning under the guidance of Robb Wolf and his amazing wife Nicki Violetti. I...
