2011 Epic Beauty Awards — First Year Ever!

This year I decided to take my annual “must-have products” round-up and punch it up a notch. Thus, I introduce to you…dun dun dun… The First-Ever…2011 Epic Beauty Awards. I know there will be some missing categories this year (i.e. foundation primer, lip pencils, lip stain, etc.). The only reason for this is that there are certain categories I did not try, and I did not want to put up any products I haven’t personally tested. If you have any category or product suggestions, leave a comment so I know what to check out![/notification] FTC Disclaimer This should go without saying, but I’ll mention it anyway – no company can buy their way onto this list. Some products may have been given to Epic Beauty Guide to review at some point, but this in no way favors the product to win an Epic Beauty Award. All products have been originally purchased or repurchased by me with my own cash dollahs. Some affiliate links are used when they are available, which supports Epic Beauty Guide as a free resource for everyone, but in no way effect the winner selection. Thank you for your support! WINNERS – MAKEUP Toggle the tabs to see all the winners. Best Concealer RMS Beauty Un-Cover Up, $36 Best Under-Eye Concealer Jane Iredale Enlighten Concealer, $29 Even though this is dark orange in the pot and I thought it would never work with my fair skin, it turned out to be fantastic for covering under-eye circles (including the blue/purple type). I learned that a little goes a long way, and that it looks even more amazing when...

Review: Clarisonic Skin Care Brush & Tips — Plus FREE Products

All right, so I finally recorded a review of my Clarisonic Plus skin care brush that I bought on January 28th, 2010. As of today I have been using it every night (far more than the 3 times I mention in the video!) and I love this brush even more than I expressed in my video review. As you may know from earlier posts, I get really dry skin in the winter and I had dry patches on my face and arms, which have 100% gone away since I’ve been using my Clarisonic. It took about a week for them to disappear entirely. My brother is prone to acne and his skin looks clearer than it has in about a year. The redness on his cheeks is greatly diminished, and he hasn’t gotten any new blemishes in almost 2 weeks. I’m really happy for him. So here we go! Video is below (sorry if I’m looking and acting tired…it’s because I was tired haha). Here is the link to my previous entry, where I announced my purchase and included a few details/video reviews from other people: I Bought a Clarisonic Skin Care Brush. {FREE CLARISONIC PRODUCTS} I mentioned in the video that I do not use the Clarisonic products — so if you use them or are interested in using them, let me know and I’ll send them to you. {MY 7 TIPS FOR USING THE CLARISONIC} If you’re on more of a budget, go with a Clarisonic Mia ($149). You can still use it on your body, it will just take longer! Be sure to use a normal brush head for...

I Bought a Clarisonic Skin Care Brush

I’ve been doing some hardcore research into the Clarisonic skin care brush (<– I linked it up so you can see what I’m talking about) lately because I have heard so many great things about it, and I am especially interested in its apparent ability to reduce dry patches and dermatitis. I am prone to getting dry, pink patches on my cheeks, and sometimes my forehead, and this always occurs in winter and/or when I eat chocolate haha. Bummer. So I decided to plop down my dollars for a Clarisonic Plus (and I got free shipping, woohoo), and we’ll see how it does with my dry patches. I’ll give it a week, and if my skin isn’t back to its happy self by then, I’m going to do a good old fashioned 3 day water and herbal tea fast. It’s so strange that even with a good, clean diet, daily exercise (I do either pilates, yoga, or circuit training every day), lots of water, and so on, I will still get my random little dry skin patches because I live in a bone dry desert with blazing hot house heaters. That’s what I get. 😉 By the way, I want to purchase a humidifier — does anyone have a good recommendation? I’ve been hunting around for a decent one for what seems like forever. The ones I’ve seen all have reports of leaking and overall cheapness of quality. These two videos, in addition to finding LOADS of independent reviews, are what convinced me to invest in this device. I embedded them here in case you want to watch. (Oh, and I...
