DIY Apple Mask for Smooth, Moist Skin

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a DIY beauty/handsomeness recipe, so I thought it would be nice to post one today. Like most of my skin care recipes, this one is easy – it’s only two ingredients and will give you a smooth and moist skin with a nice rosy glow. This will be a great mask to use in the upcoming fall and winter months, when dull, dry skin starts creeping back into our lives. 😛 {APPLE MASK INGREDIENTS} 1/2 any kind of organic apple (leave the skin on) 1 Tbsp. raw honey, or raw manuka honey (UMF 16+) Optional: Try adding 1 egg yolk (from an organic egg, the darker orange the yolk, the more rich and healthy that yolk is) for further moisturization. It will also help reduce and prevent acne breakouts due to the vitamin A present in the yolk, which helps balance sebum production for both oily and dry skin. {REASONS & RESULTS} Apples have a very cooling, slightly exfoliating effect on our skin due to the mild acids in the fruit. When applied to the skin, apples bring circulation and nourishment to the skin. And honey is a no-brainer! It is a well-known, ancient natural beauty product. It is antibacterial, a powerful humectant, and very soothing. If you have very sensitive skin or are sunburned, try a small amount of this mask on your neck or cheek first. Depending on the variety of apple, you may or may not be sensitive to the mild acids in the fruit. FYI, green apples contain less sugar and slightly more acids than varieties like Fuji, Pink...

Review: Vapour Beauty & Japanese Skincare Revolution

Heyloooo! I just uploaded a new video reviewing Vapour Organic Beauty products and Japanese Skincare Revolution. You can watch it here: Stratus  Instant Skin Perfector, $44. Smells great, feels phenomenal, very moisturizing, erases imperfections and gives you a “glow,” and also doubles as a foundation primer. Elixir Lip Gloss in Twinkle, $20. Smells great, non-sticky, very moisturizing, doesn’t taste bad like most lip glosses. The Japanese Skincare Revolution, $13. One of my favorite books on skincare. Very simple, holistic approach to beauty with practical advice. Plus, the author is living proof that it works. Annnnnd the link to my latest article on getting rid of acne: 3 “Secrets” to Clear Skin (No More Acne!) Please Note: Vapour sent me two of their products for free to review. I was not paid or in any way compensated for my review. I purchased The Japanese Skincare Revolution on my own and was not compensated for my review in any way. I am not affiliated with either...

5 Easy Ways to Stay Lean & Stress-Free During the Holidays

Hello! I’m really excited to be launching Epic Beauty Guide today, and with that, I’m posting my 5 favorite, easy tips on staying lean and stress-free…especially during the holiday season. It is a fact that stress and weight gain are closely related, so it is important to pay attention to your stress levels as well as what you put in your stomach. So enjoy the list and enjoy the holidays! See you back here soon. 1. To lower stress and cortisol (the hormone that forces us to gain weight) look to these natural aids: • Shankhpushpi (pronounced shank-a-push-pee). An Ayurvedic herb that comes from a flower. It lowers cortisol levels, improves energy, and improves concentration. The recommended dose is 200-275 mg., twice per day. • Turmeric. A common yellow-orange root used often as a powdered spice. Best absorbed with black pepper. Lowers inflammation, promotes weight loss. Gaia Herbs makes an excellent one, and you can also add a pinch of the powdered spice to your meals. • Ashwagandha. My favorite herb for all-around stress reduction and brain improvement. Rebuilds dendrites in the brain (the connections between neurons). Cedar Bear Naturales makes a great glycerin tincture. You can also try an alcohol-based tincture, as it may work better than glycerin for some people. 2. If you want to stay lean, get moving. All it takes is walking 30 minutes around the neighborhood. Of course, it’s even better if you can run for 15 minutes, go bike riding, do some at-home yoga or pilates, or do 15-20 minutes of circuit training. The hardest part of doing this? Getting motivated. So just...
