Review: Clarisonic Skin Care Brush & Tips — Plus FREE Products

All right, so I finally recorded a review of my Clarisonic Plus skin care brush that I bought on January 28th, 2010. As of today I have been using it every night (far more than the 3 times I mention in the video!) and I love this brush even more than I expressed in my video review. As you may know from earlier posts, I get really dry skin in the winter and I had dry patches on my face and arms, which have 100% gone away since I’ve been using my Clarisonic. It took about a week for them to disappear entirely. My brother is prone to acne and his skin looks clearer than it has in about a year. The redness on his cheeks is greatly diminished, and he hasn’t gotten any new blemishes in almost 2 weeks. I’m really happy for him.
So here we go! Video is below (sorry if I’m looking and acting tired…it’s because I was tired haha).
Here is the link to my previous entry, where I announced my purchase and included a few details/video reviews from other people: I Bought a Clarisonic Skin Care Brush.

I mentioned in the video that I do not use the Clarisonic products – so if you use them or are interested in using them, let me know and I’ll send them to you.
{MY 7 TIPS FOR USING THE CLARISONIC}
- If you’re on more of a budget, go with a Clarisonic Mia ($149). You can still use it on your body, it will just take longer! Be sure to use a normal brush head for your body, and a sensitive brush head for your face.
- Wet your skin well with warm water first and apply your cleanser to your skin, instead of on the brush head. Also be sure to run the brush head under warm water prior to using it on your face.
- Do not use sugar or seed scrubs with the Clarisonic — they can tear your skin when used with the brush. Use only rounded bead exfoliation, such as jojoba beads.
- Use only the factory speed setting, unless you have very tough or thick skin (like some men). Otherwise, you may irritate your skin and can cause problems.
- Wash your brush head after each use with warm water and soap (I use Dr. Bronner’s) to keep it clean and bacteria-free. Pat the brush head with a clean towel and let it air dry.
- Use the Clarisonic once per day if you have sensitive or delicate skin (I use it only at night). Otherwise, it’s perfect to use twice per day. No more than twice, though!
- Buy the Clarisonic straight from their website or a qualifying spa or dermatologist listed on their website. The reason is that Clarisonic does not warranty units sold on Amazon or eBay (bummer). It’s worth the extra $10 or $20 to have the 2-year warranty, so if anything happens to your unit, you don’t have to pay for a brand new one.
I hope that was helpful! If you have a Clarisonic, feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts on it.

Thanks for the tips! I bought the plus version and have used it for the past 3 days. I find that my skin feels dry after using it, but will continue using it because I think its advantages outweigh this one minus factor. Maybe I’m imagining it, but it seems that already my pores seem smaller! Your review was very helpful.

Thank you for this very good review (:
That is so expensive (!), but very tempting too … Do you think it can help with forehead wrinkles or preventing wrinkles at all (I’m 27…) or is that dreaming too much about those ?
You also mention honey, oat, and EO conditonner to wash your body. Is this homemade or do you buy it ?
The brush seems quite small for the whole body, is it very long to wash all over with it ?
Also, I presume that the heads won’t last forever … do you know if they need to be re-bought often with “normal usage” ?
Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us !
Hi Élise,
The Clarisonic website says that it can help prevent wrinkles as well as soften them. They have before and after pictures. I would think it would help even more so just because it helps your products penetrate better, so any anti-aging serum you put on after washing with the brush will make it more effective.
Here is the link to the honey and oat hair conditioner that I use on my hair, as well as on my body — the ingredients are incredible. http://www.100percentpure.com/glossylocks_8ozcond…
The brush that is specifically made the for the body isn’t as large as I would like, but it doesn’t take too long to wash with it. You don’t have to spend forever in one place — I just run it all over in circular motions.
You have to replace the brush heads every 3–4 months. They’re $20 or $25, so not too terrible for an every 3–4 month purchase.
I hope that helps!

Hi Stephanie,
I am in my 50’s and i want to buy one for myself and my daughter who is 26. Do you suggest that I buy 2 Mia ‚would be a better idea, rather than the plus.I think once in a way I could use it for my body. I have been seeing the videos.Could you pl. reply,as I am thinking of buying it soon.
thanks.
elaine.
Hi Elaine,
Yes, i do think it would be a better idea to get two Mias in your case. If you got the Plus, you would only have one device between the two of you and if you traveled separately or something, one of you would be without your usual skincare tool. I think it would be fine for occasional body use, too.
I would use the sensitive brush head on your face, and the normal brush head for your body.
I hope that helped!

Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for your reply, but on the same note, I would like to ask you.Is it O,K to use the Mia,in India, which is having an International charger cradle. The voltage there is 220v.
As I saw the Clarisonic site has a dual pair, which I intend to buy. Please be kind enough to reply to this.
thanks alot.
elaine.
Hi Elaine,
I believe they have an international charging cradle that you can use, but I think they already come standard with all purchases. But just in case, here’s the link: http://clarisonic.com/us/shop/universal-charging–…
I hope that helps.
Their customer service is really nice, too, so I would definitely call them to make sure the charger will work for you.

*kiss*
Are you still really loving this? I’m quite keen on getting one, but I really want to make sure it’s worth it before I pay so much money. I also wanted to know if it is really that much different than using a manual face brush?
I bit the bullet and bought one. I’m really nervous and excited, as its a big purchase for me!
Paula — Do you think maybe it has something to do with your cleanser? If its penetrating better when you use the clarisonic, maybe its stripping more layers/removing a lot more sebum and you need a more gentle and moisturising one?
Just wondering aloud, I heard that there was a free replacement brush for everyone who registered their product…? I hope this is still valid, do you/does anyone know?
Don’t you acknowledge that it’s high time to receive the loans, which will help you.
