Get Super Soft Lips

In keeping with the dry skin theme of winter, I’d like to share my tips for getting super soft, smooth lips! (P.S. your partner will appreciate your silky smooch!)

{SMOOTH LIPS TIP #1}
You exfoliate your face to keep your skin fresh and smooth, so do the same for your lips. Use the super simple scrub recipe I posted, rub the scrub between your fingers to soften a bit, and then apply in circular motions to dry lips. Use a washcloth and lukewarm water to remove the scrub. Follow up with a very light application of olive oil.

If you don’t have a scrub handy, try this nifty trick instead: apply a liberal amount of coconut oil to your lips. Using a clean toothbrush, scrub gently in circular motions. Use a washcloth and lukewarm water to remove, and follow up with a light coating of olive oil on your lips.

{SMOOTH LIPS TIP #2}
Don’t lick! Your saliva will dry out your lips, so avoid licking them.

{SMOOTH LIPS TIP #3}
Avoid using conventional lip balms or petroleum jelly. They often contain harmful ingredients, and you want to be sure that whatever you put on your lips is going to be safe to ingest (lip products end up migrating into your mouth). In addition, lip balms can make your lips too dependent on a balm — ever notice how your lips are drier than usual if you skip an application?

{SMOOTH LIPS TIP #4}
Use olive oil or coconut oil on your lips to naturally soften and protect them. Use a very light hand (you only need a drop). I prefer to use olive oil during the day if I need it, then coconut oil or even castor oil at night for a richer lip treatment.

Enjoy your “new” lips. ;)
