Heyloooo! I just uploaded a new video reviewing Vapour Organic Beauty products and Japanese Skincare Revolution. You can watch it here:

Stratus  Instant Skin Perfector
, $44.
Sm
ells great, feels phenomenal, very moisturizing, erases imperfections and gives you a “glow,” and also doubles as a foundation primer.

Vapour Organic Beauty - Stratus Instant Skin Perfector

Elixir Lip Gloss in Twinkle, $20.
Smells great, non-sticky, very moisturizing, doesn’t taste bad like most lip glosses.

Vapour Organic Beauty Elixir Lip Gloss in Twinkle
The Japanese Skincare Revolution, $13.
One of my favorite books on skincare. Very simple, holistic approach to beauty with practical advice. Plus, the author is living proof that it works.

The Japanese Skincare Revolution by Chizu Saeki

Annnnnd the link to my latest article on getting rid of acne: 3 “Secrets” to Clear Skin (No More Acne!)

Please Note: Vapour sent me two of their products for free to review. I was not paid or in any way compensated for my review. I purchased The Japanese Skincare Revolution on my own and was not compensated for my review in any way. I am not affiliated with either company.

I bought the Skincare Revolution book and love it too =)

    1) What is your opinion on her recommendation to use ice cubes directly on our face to cool it down and reduce the pore size during hot weather? Do you think it is safe to subject our skin to the extreme cold of ice?

I read another recommendation to put a *dry* towel in the freezer and use that instead of ice or wrap a towel around the ice.

    2) Please share what you are using for the lotion mask? I understand the “lotion” is a kind of like our toner but not exactly that! I don’t have access to Nars (the one she recommended).

    Hi Pansy!

    1. Yes and no. I have only heard through the grapevine that using ice repeatedly on the skin can cause broken capillaries. However, that doesn’t make much sense to me logically, since cold only constricts vessels and the only way you’d really break them is if you were smacking your face with the ice. :P I’ve used ice on my skin before with no problem (and my skin is quite sensitive), and hydrotherapy (i.e. bathing in cycles of hot and cold water for health and skin benefits) is a very old and common health practice. If you have very sensitive skin, then definitely try using a cold towel instead. You can also wet the towel and put in the fridge so it’s not as cold as an icecube. My favorite thing is using chilled champagne as a toner — that will shrink your pores and even out your skin tone better than anything!

    2. I use 100% Pure’s Organic Aqua Boost Hydrate Serum. It has the same texture and purpose that Saeki recommends for a lotion mask, and it’s been working great. I’ve been casually looking around to see if I can find another natural lotion-type product I can rotate with, so I’ll let you know if I find anything good.

    I hope that was helpful!

I ordered some Vapour products and am very happy with them. I got the Stratus Skin Perfector, the Elixir lip gloss, and the Lux Organic Lip Conditioner. I love them all.

The lip gloss is SO moisturizing. I usually wear either lipstick or lip balm to keep my dry lips moisturized, and most products are effective for maybe half an hour at most, but the Vapour lip gloss kept my lips feeling moist for hours.

I also liked the other products and especially love that the ingredients are so good for skin — love that the Skin Perfector has frankincense in it, which is supposed to be really good for aging skin. I’m going back for more!

Hi. I saw that use use the Pure agua boost for your lotion mask. I checked out the ingred and saw lavendar alcohol as one of the ingreds. is this ok to use? I get scared when I see the word alcohol in a product as I have already dry skin. Thanks again!

  • Comment by epicbeautyguide — February 5, 2010 @ 1:04 pm

    Hi Paola!

Yes, that amount of lavender grain alcohol in that particular serum is less than 1%, so it’s quite all right for dry skin (especially since grain and fruit alcohols are not harsh on the skin). My skin is really dry and it hasn’t dried it out, but it’s not moisturizing enough if I use it alone as a moisturizer. However, it’s amazing to use with a lotion mask, and after I take the mask off, I moisturize with jojoba oil to seal the serum in.

I haven’t found any hyaluronic acid serums that are as simple and “clean” as that one, but if you see one without alcohol, I’d love to know! Though, if it’s less than 4% of the ingredients, they don’t have to list it.

Hi Stephanie! I really need to purchase the book you mentioned, should be nice though. I tryed already Tanaka Facial massage on me, gives great result! I love to do home-made treatments for my skin as well, I saw you mentioned a yogurt one, I just add 1tsp honey and several drops of coconut/olive oil into as well. Do you have some other recipy to share? You also mentioned your mother is Lithuanian, maybe you know some russian language by chance, as I am from Russia?

Hello, I’ve been reading the book. I was, wondering. Are the, lotion masks the same as the brightening packs that she mentions? Many thanks.

I have super dry skin. I mean-PEELING-dry skin. My skin shed frequently and most drug store moisturisers don’t work on me. Is there a natural moisturizer that works on unusualy SUPER dry skin? please and thank you <3.

    Hi Suzie!

Okay, a lot of dry skin problems actually occur from the inside. Are you eating enough fat and essential fatty acids from fish, grass-fed meats, and/or fish oil? If not, you will want to consider taking a good fish oil supplement, such as Carlson Labs or Garden of Life. If you drink a lot of soda or sugary drinks or sports drinks, stop doing that and drink water instead. You can also take MSM, which is a sulfur-bearing compound that brings smoothness and suppleness to our skin. It is produced in nature, but we often don’t get enough of it. Many brands are great, and you can take 1,000 mg (1 capsule) in the morning with fruit (apple, kiwi, orange, etc.) or a small glass of orange or grapefruit juice (MSM needs to be taken with foods that contain vitamin C) and another 1,000 mg (1 capsule) with the evening meal. Try eating more greens as well. Greens are essential for beautiful, smooth, supple skin. Steam them, blend them with fruit for a smoothie, juice them, whatever. Just don’t rely solely on salads for your greens, since you will not get all the nutrients from them (it’s hard for us to digest the cellulose in plants).

Once you’ve done these things, you will see a huge improvement in your skin. Additionally, a good moisturizer is very simple and 100% natural. Try olive oil, sweet almond oil, or jojoba oil. Coconut oil also works well, but I find it’s a little better suited for not-so-dry and normal skin types.

Don’t forget to exfoliate gently once per week. Try natural, organic sugar cane (it will be a beige/off-white color and small granules). Just add a little spoon of it to your face wash and gently massage over your entire face to remove the dead skin cells. Also make sure your face wash is not drying your skin out (washes that contain alcohols, artificial ingredients, preservatives, and artificial solvents will contribute to your dry skin problem) and only wash your face ONCE per day. Switch to a gentle, all natural cleanser from a brand like 100% Pure, Sophyto, Dr. Hauschka, Talulah, or Organic Apoteke. You can also exfoliate every night, or every other night, using an 8 or 10% glycolic acid gel. I use one from Naturopathica. It removes the dead skin cells without being abrasive, so it’s excellent for sensitive skin.

    I hope that was helpful!

I have read the Japanese skincare revolution and in the book she mentioned a lotion mask. I cant get a hold of the Nars product she mentions, and im not able to purchase any products online. Do you think Vitamin e hydrating toner from the body shop would be a good substitute?

  • Comment by epicbeautyguide — August 26, 2010 @ 10:24 am

Hi Sally, yes I would use a different serum or toner, not the Nars one. You want to go as natural as possible. :) A natural, hydrating toner will work great. One of the things I use is 100% Pure Organic Aqua Boost Hydrating Serum, which is thicker than a toner, but not as thick as a moisturizer.
