I get really dry skin in the winter because I live in a very dry climate and everyone has their heaters blazing, which sucks all the moisture out of the air. In additon to getting a humidifier, I use oil to wash and moisturize my face, without getting a single pimple.
So today I’m sharing with you one of my favorite recipes for dry skin — it’s so simple, it feels wonderful, and it’s been around forevahhhh.
{BENEFITS}
Removes dead skin cells so moisture can penetrate, moisturizing, protective, heals scars and acne, anti-aging.
{INGREDIENTS}
2 Tbsp. organic, cold-pressed olive oil
1 Tbsp. organic, raw honey
1/4 cup organic cane sugar
1 small, dark glass container (you do not want to store your scrub in plastic, dark glass prevents the oil from oxidizing and will not leach into your scrub)
{STEP #1}
Pour your olive oil into your glass container. Then pour in your honey. Mix well.
{STEP #2}
Add the sugar slowly and mix as you go. You may use less or more than 1/4 cup. You should end up with a thick scrub. Add a little more oil if you feel it’s too thick.
{STEP #3}
Apply to your freshly washed face, neck, and chest. In winter, I use Talulah Moonflower Gentle Cleansing Balm to wash. Now massage the scrub in gently. If you have very sensitive skin, rub the scrub in your hands for a few seconds to soften up the granules, then apply.
{STEP #4}
Rinse off with lukewarm water. Give a final splash of cool water. Skip the toner (you want to keep the remaining olive oil on your skin) and apply a quality natural moisturizer. I use organic virgin coconut oil from Tropical Traditions to soften my skin and prevent blackheads, or I’ll use my favorite moisturizer from 100% Pure.
{STEP #5}
Store in a cool, dark place like your medicine cabinet.
Enjoy! Let me know how you like this luscious scrub!
